today I would like to talk about how to clean up your JIRA instance, or should I say avoiding making a mess while creating new project in JIRA? If you are creating JIRA projects often this will come really handy.
NOTE : its possible only for JIRA Server/Datacenter and JIRA Cloud Standard and above
When you are creating new JIRA project it make sense to create it with shared configuration, instead of using the default workflows, issue type schemes created by JIRA. Firstly u set up Template project, where you set all of your configuration and the just whenever you are creating new project, choose create with shared configuration and select the Template project.
It wont make mess as it would if Jira create all schemes for the certain project – if you need different schemes for every project then no – this is not the way.
And if you need to change workflows for only one project, you basically just copy the template scheme, rename it and set it for this one certain project.
